This policy covers WorldFive (also known as "WorldFive - News Aggregator" and www.worldfive.info; together, "WorldFive"). WorldFive respects your privacy. This policy explains what we handle and why.
What we collect
Anonymous device identifier: a random ID generated on your device to remember your settings. It is not linked to your name, email, or any personal account.
Category subscriptions: the news categories you choose to follow.
Push token (only if you enable notifications): an anonymous token from your device's push service so we can deliver alerts. Disabling notifications removes it.
Local news location (only if you add one): the city and state (or ZIP) you type in to see local news. You choose it yourself — we never read your device's GPS or location services — and removing local news deletes it.
What we do NOT collect
No names, emails, phone numbers, or passwords.
No GPS or precise device location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers.
No selling or sharing of data with advertisers.
How we use it
To show your followed categories and send an alert when a new top story lands in them.
To show local headlines for the location you entered and alert you when a new top local story lands.
Third parties
Trending headlines come from public Google News RSS feeds. Opening a story sends you to the publisher's website, governed by that publisher's privacy policy.
Push notifications are delivered through Expo's push service.
Data retention & deletion
You can remove your local news location anytime from the Discover tab, which deletes it and stops local alerts.
Notification history is automatically deleted after 60 days; expired story history is also purged automatically.
Because your data is anonymous, you can clear it at any time by disabling notifications and uninstalling the app.
